FlexMeasures is an open source project that was originally created by the team at Seita.nl and is now a part of LF Energy. The team at Seita continues to maintain and support the project. 

FlexMeasures was created by a small team of engineers who think that energy optimization, scheduling and forecasting are an essential part of any renewable energy strategy. The energy optimization engines that form the backbone of these systems should be auditable, transparent, extensible and adhere to industry-accepted standards. That’s why the project was not only open sourced for full transparency, but was also donated to a neutral foundation. 

At a time when many companies are looking to LLMs to solve everything, FlexMeasures was designed using mathematical models. It also isn’t designed to be a general energy management system, but rather software specialized in solving scheduling and forecasting, which can either be used as a specialized EMS or as a component of a more general EMS.
